Hello! This is mainly in response to Piglet in Portugal’s inquiry if I was still here. Yes, m’dear, I am still here. The usual school & work is bogging me down, unfortunately. They keep tellin’ me it’s worth it, but at what price? Agh. Anyhoot, this is a quick post to confirm I’m fine here in sunny Southern California

Wildflower seeds from an old freebie packet. Let's see if these sprout.Spinach coming up (finally!)
Carrots. These and the spinach don't seem to like our Californian winter very much.
Another freebie packet; this one is of lettuces. Threw these in an old flower pot.
Victory Seeds order. Lots of lettuce, some other veggies, and a few flowers...
... and plenty of candy! The drugstore I used to get these at doesn't sell them anymore so I kinda stocked up 
Seed starting, too.
Wandering Jew cuttings are taking root very nicely.
Lemon balm, coming back! I'm pretty excited.
Repotted some cacti.
And that’s it. For now, at least. I still have some pics on my chip but I’ll upload those in a different batch.

For Christmas I made a batch of Turkish Delight in addition to way too many cookie batches.
Here’s the recipe used. As a variation, instead of the saffron (and lemonjuice, which we didn’t have) I put a tablespoon of coconut extract in. That turned out to be a little too much, flavor-wise, and I would have loved to added some finely shredded coconut with the powdered sugar and cornstarch. Next time!

The other night my little sister was feeling well enough to take on the challenge of making a pizza (okay, three) from scratch, dough and all.

Early this past Spring we had a lot of rainfall and with that rainfall the plants happily sprouted with new forms of life. The rosemary plant in particular went a little nutso with flowers, which was awesome for us – they smell so nice! What was more awesome (’til I found out they have a very low germination rate) was the bounty of seeds we got from these flowers. Eh, was fun while it lasted!
